The state regulation in the spheres of standardization, ensuring of uniformity measures and conformity assessment directed to the formation of the juridical field of these spheres:

  • safety of human life and health, physical and legal entities, and state property, life, health of animals and plants, and environment, including flora and fauna;
  • technical and informational compatibility, interchangeability of production;
  • quality increase of the production, activity and service;
  • measure uniformity;
  • saving of resources;
  • necessary conditions of the state safety and mobilization ability;
  • consumer confidence in production and services, prevention of the factors which lead to misunderstanding;
  • competional increase of national production;
  • elimination of the technical barriers to production in the foreign and domestic markets, as well as creation of favorable conditions for participation in international, economical, scientific-technical cooperation and the international trade;
  • measure conformity in the scope of economy.

According to the on 19 December, 2002 No. 2042-N Decree of the Government of the RA the Department of Standardization, Metrology and Certification by the Government of the RA was reorganized joining the Ministry of Trade and Economic Development as a result of which were established:

  • the Department of the Standardization, Metrology and Conformity Assessment as a subdivision of the Ministry;
  • Quality Inspectorate of the RA as a separate subdivision of the Ministry;
  • Accreditation Agency of the RA as a separate subdivision of the Ministry;
  • National Institute of Metrology and National Institute of Standards.
